Since its foundation in 2008 the AeroSpace Initiative Saxony (ASIS) has increased technology transfer and network management between aerospace companies in Saxony, helping to pool regional core competencies related to technology and production, and thus sustainably strengthened the region’s international competitiveness and provided support for the mainly medium-sized companies working in the industry.

The aerospace systems industry concentrates on its core competencies, meaning that the equipment and supply industry is subject to ever greater demands by systems manufacturers, but is simultaneously also given more room for manoeuvre when it comes to the market success of the finished products. ASIS also supports smaller enterprises in our industry to raise their competitive edge by means of new strategic approaches. The region provides excellent conditions for ASIS’s activities. With LRT e. V. (the “Aviation and Aerospace Competence Centre of Saxony and Thuringia”), GWT-TUD GmbH, the universities, the industry’s technological skills and political support, ASIS has everything it needs to work effectively and create added value for the member enterprises and the region as a whole. The BDLI supports the ASIS initiative as it not only affects the region, but also helps strengthen Germany itself as a location for the aerospace industry in the long-term.
