On 17th April 2008 the "Day of the Aerospace" took place in Dresden's Fraunhofer Institute at the invitation of the BDLI Regional Forum with the Competence Centre of Aerospace and Space Technology Saxony / Thuringia.

High-ranking guests from politics and industry were present. A threshold of  development  for the network of aerospace industry in Saxony was the establishment the AeroSpace Initiative Saxony, briefly ASIS.
ASIS should be push and coordinates innovative projects.

By increasing collaboration of mainly small and medium-sized enterprises to improve their competitiveness.

"Only through cooperation, companies have the opportunity to be included as a competent partner in the supply and service chains in the world few large aircraft manufacturers" said Economy Minister Thomas Jurk at the Beginning of Association of Saxon Aerospace industry.
